To reduce reinfestation due to the appearance of new fleas, it is recommended that all dogs in the home environment be treated. Other animals living together in the same home environment should be treated with a suitable product. To further help reduce the environmental threat, the additional use of a suitable animal treatment against adult fleas and their developing stages is recommended.
The product remains effective if the animal gets wet. However, intense and prolonged exposure to water should be avoided. In cases of frequent exposure to water, the persistence of efficacy may be reduced. In such cases, do not repeat the treatment more frequently than once a week. If shampooing is required for the dog, it is best to do so before the application of Advantix or at least two weeks after application, to optimize the effectiveness of the product.
In case of infestation of lice, an additional dietary visit 30 days after treatment is recommended, because some animals may need a second treatment.
Remove a pipette from the package. Holding the pipette upright, rotate and remove the cap. Turn the cap back over and put the opposite end back on the pipette. Rotate the cap to break the seal and then remove the cap from the pipette.
For dogs up to 10 kg body weight:
With the dog stationary on all four legs, spread the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the end of the pipette on the skin and squeeze firmly several times until the contents empty directly onto the skin.
For dogs over 10 kg body weight:
With the dog stationary on all four legs, the entire contents of the Advantix pipette should be applied equally in four places on the top of the back to the base of the tail. At each point, spread the coat until the skin is visible. Place the end of the pipette on the skin and squeeze gently to empty some of the solution onto the skin.
Warnings for proper administration:
For external use only.
Apply only on undamaged skin.
Do not apply an excessive amount of solution at any of the points that would cause some of the solution to run down the dog's sides.
Special Warnings:
Special precautions for use in animals:
Care should be taken to prevent the contents of the pipette from coming into contact with the eyes or mouths of treated dogs.
Care should be taken to administer the product correctly as described in Method of Sommnistration.
In particular, oral intake due to licking of the application site by treated animals or by animals in contact with them should be prevented.
Do not use on cats.
Advantix® Spot-on is extremely toxic to cats and could be fatal.
This is due to the peculiar physiology of the cat, which is incapable of metabolizing certain compounds, including permetricna.
To prevent cats from being accidentally exposed to the product, keep treated dogs away from cats after treatment and until the application site has dried.
It is important to ensure that cats do not lick the application site of a dog treated with this product. If this happens contact a dietitian immediately.
Consult your dietitian before using the product on sick or debilitated dogs.
Because the product is hazardous to aquatic organisms, under no circumstances should treated dogs be allowed to enter any type of surface water for at least 48 hours after treatment.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the product to animals:
Avoid contact of the product with the skin, eyes or mouth. Do not eat, drink or smoke during application. Wash hands thoroughly after use.
In case of accidental spillage on skin, wash immediately with soap and water. Persons with known skin sensitivities may be particularly sensitive to this product.
The predominant clinical symptoms that may occur in extremely rare cases are transient sensory irritation of the skin such as tingling, burning sensation, or numbness.
If the product accidentally gets into the eyes, they should be flushed thoroughly with water. If skin or eye irritation persists or if the product is accidentally swallowed, seek medical attention immediately and show him or her the package insert.
Treated dogs should not be handled, particularly by children, until the application site has dried. This can be ensured, for example, by treating dogs in the evening. Newly treated dogs should not be allowed to sleep with their owners, especially children.
Additional information:
The solvent in Advantix Spot-on may stain some materials including leather, fabric, plastic, and polished surfaces. Allow the application site to dry before allowing contact with such materials.
